A fine quality Continental silver gilt Chalice, the removable cup with filigree and jewel inset basket, on an ornate base with winged cherub head and pillar stem supported by angels on a shaped base embellished with typical motifs, hallmarks (worn) the underneath inscribed 'To God The Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and in honour of Blessed Mary Conceived without Sin. This Chalice is presented to Mother D. Sales Cooke and the Ursuline Convent, Waterford by Catherine Grant.' as a mark of respect and gratitude and as a tribute to the memory of her Sister Ellen, who lived and died a member of this Good and Zealous Community, Oct. 10th, 1860, Pro me et meis orate,' approx. 28 ounces, approx. 27cms high.
