AN IMPRESSIVE HISTORICAL IRISH SILVER ARMADA JUG, Dublin c.1866. The front engraved with presentation message to cartouche reading ‘Presented to Capt. St. Leger Aldmorth RD by the orphan children of the late Revd Robert Bury of Carrigrenane Co. Cork as a slight token of their affection & gratitude 1866’, the cartouche to reverse with family coat of arms of arm wielding sword above scroll reading ‘Nec Temere Nec Timide’ which translates to Neither rashly nor timidly. Baluster body with ornate decoration throughout, featuring fruit and foliate designs, applied cherubs and masks, with S scroll hinged handle and cover, raised on circular foot. Dimensions: 37cm high approx. Weight: 41ozt approx.
