A selection of Herculaneum style blue and white serving wares, early 19th century, to include a pickle set comprising five shaped dishes to a handled tray, 28cm long, a tree and well meat plate raised on three feet, 47cm long, a twin handled chestnut basket, 26cm wide, a square serving bowl, 22.5cm wide, a shaped serving dish, 24.5cm wide, a footed oval serving bowl, 26cm wide, with a conforming quadrant dish, 38cm wide, etc. (9) (at fault)
The pieces are likely to be Herculaneum, but are all lacking maker's marks. All pieces show fine surface crazing, surface wear including fine surface scratching, firing pits and frits, and small glazing and decorating faults. The meat plate shows a repaired break through the centre. The shaped serving bowl shows evidence of crude restoration to the rim. The footed oval serving bowl shows extensive repairs. The quadrant dish shows evidence of repair to the rim extending to a hairline crack. The chestnut basket shows several flaked chips to the rim. The oval dish shows a full thickness hairline crack descending from the rim.
