Miscellaneous - Europe, a late Victorian lady's illustrated travelogue, compiled and illustrated by Alice Marshall, the series of named-views prefixed by her passport, issued under the auspices of Lord Salisbury (then Foreign Secretary) and dated 1880, for "travelling on the Continent", comprising 49 watercolours and 18 pencil drawings of named-view topography, animal, and figural studies, of which 19 pages enclose musical notation and/or song, loosely-inserted ephemera, contemporary cloth, 8vo, (1); six late Victorian and early Edwardian sketchbooks, probably by the same hand, illustrated (some partially so) in watercolour and/or pencil with landscapes, figural and animal studies, including the Royal funeral of Queen Victoria and its courtege, dated 19010, various bindings, mixed size 8vo, (6); a mid-19th century purple roan manuscript, recto enclosing the commonplace book of Janet Mary Marshall/Clifton/Nov:er 2nd/1852, the verso with a Journal of a Tour, dated 1880, each compiled in a different hand, only a quarter of the volume is inscribed, contemporary binding, floppy 4to, (1); an early 20th century commonplace book, 4to, (1), [9]
