Cuba History - Slavery - China - Ship Manifest - scarce list of Chinese 'coolies', signed up as indentured laborers in their quest to escape the hardships of China and many of whom would become enslaved. The list features names, place of birth and age. Signed in script by the Consul General of Spain in Macao, Jose de Aguilar, dated 1867, with 290 listed names on board, bound for Havana. Very few of these manifests exist in the world today. Common faults as displayed in images, tears throughout, text appears legible. The Chinese went to Cuba in 1847 in search of a better life, but they became indentured servants and slaves
