A German 16 bore flintlock sporting gun, c 1770, 41½” overall, 2 stage twist barrel 26¾”, with silver fore sight and later added rearsight, the octagonal breech silver overlaid “F. RUDOLPH.IN.AUGSPERG” (sic), the unmarked rounded lock having fluted border, swan neck cock, and unbridled frizzen, with walnut fullstock, horn fore end cap, scrolled wooden trigger guard, chequered wrist, WM mounts, sling swivels, and horn tipped wooden ramrod, the fore end either made in two halves or replaced during its working life.
