DAY, Richard, A Booke of Christian Prayers, collected out of the ancient Writers. Small 4to, circa 1608. Commonly known as Queen Elizabeth's Prayer Book, it was first published in 1569 and there were further edition in 1578, 1590 and 1608. This copy begins on HI (folio 25) and ends on LLI (folio 125). Lacking portrait frontis of Queen Elizabeth kneeling, first 28 leaves and 15 leaves at the end. Folio 119 has only a stub left and folio 118 is missing half the leaf. Every page is surrounded by a woodcut border from the designs of Albrecht Durer, Hans Holbein and others, many showing emblems of mortality. Old calf, neatly rebacked, red edges.
