FIRST WORLD WAR MEDALS TO BROTHERS FROM MARYPORT, CUMBERLAND. A War Medal named to 32556 Pte J. Stoddart Bord. R. and a Victory Medal named to 16621 Pte W. Stoddart Bord R. William and John were sons of Joseph and Isabella Stoddart and native of Maryport Cumberland. William served with the 2nd Battalion of the Border Regiment he died on the 1st of June 1915 and is buried at Boulogne Eastern cemetery, his headstone reads 'He answered the call and gave all', he was 36 years old. John served with the 43rd Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers and died on the 1st December 1918, he is buried at Janval Cemetery, Dieppe, his headstone has the same inscription, he was also 36 years old. *CR Normal light surface marks. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
