A RARE QUEEN ANNE SILVER SPIRIT FLASK

untraced maker's mark only (?Z), of ovoid form with a detachable cup to the base, the screw cap of cylindrical form with a domed top and surmounted screw fitted cylindrical finial/ stopper, the body engraved with a coat of arms reserved with foliate scrolls and leafy forms, the base cup with a crest of a lion rampant, the body and cup with engraved decoration of a border of stylised acanthus leaves and hatched ‘acorn’ forms to the junction, an alignment rosette to the base and body to one side. 14.2cm long, 6 troy ounces

There is a small dent in the front of the right-hand shoulder. The cap screws on and off well. The cup fits well. In generally very good condition commensurate with age.
