A LARGE CHINESE WESTERN HAN DYNASTY JAR
The jar an imitation of earlier bronze examples cast with a frieze of animals around the shoulder. Purchased by the vendors father at the Bradford auction of items belonging to Monsignor John O’Connor by Ernest R. de Rome in December 1952. John O’Connor was a noted collector of ceramics and pictures and closely connected with, among others, Eric Gill and GK Chesterton.
