French M1842 Sabre Bayonet


22 1/2 inch, single edged, yataghan blade with wide fuller.  Back edge with maker's details dated 1862.  Steel, turn up crossguard and large muzzle ring numbered 1220.  Brass ribbed grip.  Steel locking spring.  Contained in its steel scabbard complete with leather frog.
