The Liberator space ship actually used in the 1978-1981 sci-fi TV series Blake’s 7 restored by Martin J Bower.

This is the largest one of the three that were made.

We can confirm that approximately a third of this model ended up in a skip at the TV studios, however the remaining two thirds were taken back to the workshop by Martin Bower and restored. The original parts are 2 weapon pods, the nose cone and the 3 brass fins at the end of the weapon pods.

Martin Bower worked on Blake's 7 from start to finish, all 4 seasons.

Notes from our Vendor

The BBC order the ship to be built from Space Models prior to 1977 & the start of the 1st series
The BBC then gives the ship to Martin to add the detail like the Air Fix parts & his own artwork, the red paint etc
Martin continues to look after it & do any repairs during the 3 seasons, until it is set on fire at the end of the 3rd season
The BBC gives some of the good parts to Miniature models, so they can have it moulded for their future copies
Martin gets the parts back when miniature have finished with them & takes it on himself to re build it using 2 pods, the nose cone & Brass fins
The melted green ball engine & the main body with a split in it's side are re built, only the air fix detailing is re used
I think Matt joined the series in the 2nd season & had the important job of continuing the production & possibly organising other ships like the Scorpio

Stuart Bull Auctions have taken consignment of this model in good faith, having been supplied the documents of provenance by our vendor. Further research should be undertaken by potential buyers. To see more opinion of this model please visit our Face Book page where this item has been listed. This is still a unique model, whether made or restored by Martin Bower, and still has links to Blake's7 even if controversially so.
