A Belle Epoque jewelled blonde tortoiseshell fan, c1914, with diamond set naturalistic gold mounts of a bird on a branch, butterfly and initials EV, bird with ruby eye, Belgian lace leaf, sticks 35cm
Provenance:  A wedding present to Lady Enid Vane and engraved with her initials. Lady Enid Victoria Rachel Fane (1894-1969) the daughter of Lt Col Anthony Mildmay Julian Fane, 13th Earl of Westmorland and Lady Sybil Mary St Clair-Erskine, married, firstly, on 25th August 1914 Major the Hon. Henry Cecil Vane, the eldest son of Henry de Vere Vane, 9th Baron Barnard of Barnard Castle and Lady Catherine Sarah Cecil (1882-1917) Lady Enid Vane married, secondly, on 1 September 1922 Major Herbert Broke Turnor
