Property of a gentleman - The Cunningham Medal, an unmarked gold (tests 23ct - printout available) medal by Alexander Kirkwood, awarded to John Dewar Cormack, 1890, 47mm diameter, approximately 62.3 grams, in fitted leather box inscribed ALEXR. KIRKWOOD & SON / Medalists. //EDINBURGH'. Footnote - Professor John Dewar Cormack C.B.E. C.M.G. (1870-1935) was educated at Glasgow University and subsequently lectured in engineering at Yorkshire College, Leeds, Glasgow University and University College, London. He held various posts in aeronautical departments during the Great War. He was awarded the decoration of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour by the French Government, and was also honorary Brigadier General and honorary Group Captain in the R.A.F..
