Irish Guards Officer's Sword By Wilkinson


32 1/2 inch, dumbbell blade with central fuller.  Etched Kings crown GRV cypher.  Kings crown Irish Guards badge, battle honour scrolls, foliage panels and owner's initials "H.S.P".  Forte with maker "Wilkinson Sword Co Ltd London".  Back edge numbered "63059" (1931).  Nickel plated guard with Irish Guards cartouche.  Checkered backstrap.  Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding.  Contained in its steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings.  Complete with gilt cord sword knot. 

Possibly carried by Lt. Col. H.S. Phillpots MC who was appointed a Lieutenant in the Regiment in 1933 and comanded the Regimet 06th June 1942 - 14th February 1943. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry with the BEF 1940
