A FIRST WORLD WAR COMPASS BELONGING TO AN OFFICER IN THE 4th LANCASTERS.
A Verner's Pattern compass, the reverse with Government arrow and 'Anglo-Swiss' No. 37168, 1915, the leather case marked C&R Brindley 1916, marked by the owner '2 Lt. H.G.R. Scaife 4th Royal Lancaster Regt. The compass similarly marked. 2nd Lieutenant H.G.R. Scaife of the 4th Battalion (Territorial) Kings Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) had a seniority date of 25th January 1917, he was wounded on the 25th May 2018 and entitled to a wound stripe.
