Native of Oswaldtwistle near Accrington. Enlisted on 8th October 1915. Landed in Gallipoli on 23rd July 1915. Served with 1st/5th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment (TF). Posted on 22nd April 1917 to 8th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. Medically evacuated from France on 21st August 1918 with a gunshot wound to the leg. Discharged 10th August 1920.
