IMPORTANT METEORITE SAMPLE FROM THE MOKOIA AEROLITE THAT FELL AT MOKOIA, SOUTH TARANAKI IN THE WESTERN NORTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND, NOV 26TH, 1908 ALONG WITH ACCOMPANYING LETTERS FROM PROFESSOR WILLIAM DENNING (BRITISH ASTRONOMER 1848-1931) TO GEORGE R. MARRINER (NEW ZEALAND ORNITHOLOGIST CIRCA 1879-1910) AND VICE VERSA The letters include a scientific analysis of the Mokoia Meteorite by Bernard Aston (New Zealand Chemist born 1871-1951). George Marriner was a graduate of Canterbury College & Curator at Wanganui Museum. As a promising young New Zealand Scientist, he was the first to investigate the 'Kea' (mountain parrot) problem from a purely scientific point of view & after exhaustive investigation brought a verdict of 'guilty'. He died at Wanganui 25th Feb 1910. One letter here is addressed from Marriner at the Public Museum Wanganui, New Zealand to Mr Denning in Bristol. The meteorite sample approx 17mm across.
