£850
A 19th century French Empire style gilt bronze figural mantle clock in the manner of Alibert, modelled as Au Nègre Portefaix, representing a cotton carrier wearing a wide brimmed hat carrying a bale of cotton on a frame on his back with a letter in his left hand, the gilt dial with Roman numerals, 26cms high.
The figure is loose on the base, the hour hand is missing and the key and glass is missing. It has a pocket watch movement which doesn't appear to be working (doesn't tick when crown wheel is wound) and we suspect the rope is replacement and there is some rubbing to the gilt to the bale and to the legs.
