A moth or butterfly fan, the paper leaf shaped, with embossed gold decoration and minute gold dots, adding shine to the pastel colours of cream, pale green and black for body markings, scattered with glitter, the verso plain, the simple wood sticks painted white and lightly gilded and silvered, guard approx. 21.5cm, together with a Palmette or Jenny Lind fan for a young girl, the panels formed from layers of crepe paper, a design applied in brown with a slight touch of glitter, the monture of bone, a silk bow to the front panel, guard approx. 18cm (2)
