A George III period embroidered needlework sampler by Mary Humphreys, dated 1816. Embroidered with the alphabet in both upper and lower case and numbers 1-12 above a centrally embroidered verse reading 'Love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me: James & Mary Humphreys' with a walled memorial depicted beneath with an inscription reading 'M Humphreys Aged 13 years 1816', all enclosed by trees, animals and foliate patterns. Later frame and glaze. 19 in (48.2 cm) x 16.6 in (42.2 cm) Condition report: Good condition with age.
