The Austin Healey Mk1 was introduced In May 1958 at Monte Carlo. The Sprite quickly became known as the Frogeye because its headlights were prominently mounted on top of the bonnet, inboard of the front wings. 48,987 Frogeye Sprites were made.
This first year of production Austin Healey Frog eye Sprite was originally shipped to South Africa, where it spent most of its life with one family, and was repatriated to the UK in 2015. The car had been bodily restored in South Africa, and was mechanically restored on its arrival to the UK. Whilst in South Africa it was regularly displayed at car shows and events, and it has a well documented full restoration history including mechanical work here in the past two years.
The hood, side screens and tonneau have been recently replaced, and the car has a new MOT with no advisories. The car drives extremely well and the performance is enhanced with a twin SU carburettor upgrade on the correct size original engine.
The car will come with Minilite wheels fitted and not the ones in the photos.
