A FRENCH TAHAN 19TH CENTURY ORMOLU AND ENAMEL CASKET of oval form, having enamel panels depicting cherubs on pink ground contained in beaded cartouches with hinged lid and floral silk interior, bearing inscription TAHAN Bard des Italiens 11 (1866-1879), supported on scrolled and pierced feet, 18cm wide x 14cm deep x 11cm high
The screw for the left hand foot is missing therefore there is movement on the base, some tarnishing to gilt, there is also some movement to the left foot. Possible repair to base, evidence of welding, silk lining has been re-sewn, other surface scratches evident to body, possible repair to one panel
