A German Second World War Third Reich RAD enlisted man’s hewer. The fullered blade of scimitar style, etched ‘Urbeit adelt’ with maker’s mark for Carl Jul Krebs of Solingen, RAD diamond and ‘Ges. Gesch’ inscribed to the ricasso. The plated metal hilt with single scroll quillon to the crossguard, an antler grip and eagle’s head pommel and the black enamelled metal scabbard with plated metal mounts engraved with Celtic strapwork and a RAD spade emblem with swastika to the chape. 39.8 cm total length.
Condition report: Some age-related wear as illustrated.
