TWO FIRST WORLD WAR MEMORIAL PLAQUES. A Great War Memorial plaque named to George Arthur Vernon and another to James Leigh. Mounted together with copied scrolls. Private George Arthur Vernon was from Stockport, he served as 242740 in the 5th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He drowned at sea when H.T. Arcadian sank on the 15th April 1919. He is commemorated on the Mikra Memorial in Greece. Private James Leigh from Collyhurst, Manchester served as 25929 with the 23rd Battalion Manchester Regiment was killed in action on the 20th July 1916 having appeared on the missing list on the 4th September 1916, he is commemorated on the memorial at Thiepval. It is believed that the two men were cousins. Maximum dimensions 46 x 36cm. *CR Not examined out of the frame. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
