A French 12 bore (18mm) Model 1842 rifled percussion carbine, 45" overall, barrel 30" dated 1846 at the breech, the tang engraved ".. 1842" (partly obscured by added rearsight); back action lock engraved "Mre Rle de Tulle"; walnut stock with steel mounts, including two barrel bands secured by spring catches, sling swivels, and steel ramrod.
