A worksplate, 63887, GORTON WORKS, 1946, from a Robinson Great Central type 2-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co at its Queens Park Works, Works No 22224, in September 1919 to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 2134. Sold to the LNER, becoming their O4/3 Class No 6636, entering traffic in August 1927 at Doncaster. Rebuilt and re-classified to O1 at Gorton in about April 1946 and renumbered 3887, becoming BR 63887. Its BR sheds were Gorton, Annesley, March and Staveley from where it was withdrawn in March 1963 and cut up at Doncaster Works. Cast iron, 9"x5", the front cleaned but unpainted. (Postage Band: C)
