1965 ROLEX EXPLORER WATCH
1965 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer gentleman’s wristwatch, reference 5500. Signed black dial with baton markers, triangular marker at the 12 o’clock position. Arabic markers at the three, six and nine o’clock positions, outer minute markers, sweep seconds automatic movement, screw-down crown.
34mm case with original stainless steel Oyster bracelet (stamped 6635/57), housed in original box with cardboard outer box, Rolex Watches guarantee and At Your Service booklet, with retailers stamp for James Walker Goldsmith and Silversmith Ltd. 48 George Street, Luton, Bedfordshire, dated 15 Dec 1967.
The booklet indicates that the watch was returned to Rolex in Bexley, Kent on two occasions, 17/11/72 and 3/5/78, the watch still has the cardboard postage box from when serviced in 1978.
