An unusual Regency period silkwork depicting actor Charles Kemble as Romeo, silk with steel studs, painted and laid on paper, period mahogany frame, 32 x 26 cm. [Charles Kemble, 1775-1854, born in Brecon Wales, to a theatrical family, He made his stage debut in 1794 and was later to become manager of Convent Garden Theatre. He is attributed as being the first theatrical manager to use appropriate historical costume and scenery on the English stage].
