Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, George V 1st type, named to: 2311145 Cpl M P Deasy R C of Sig (Royal Corps of Signals). Michael Patrick Deasy was born in Cork, Ireland in 1887. The 1901 census records him living with his widowed mother Julia aged 48 and 5 siblings at Ballylanghy, Butlerstown, Cork. He was a pre-war regular soldier in 1/R Irish Regiment who would probably have enlisted aged 18 in 1905. The 1911census records him as a
member of E Coy 1/R Irish, aged 24 on 02/04/1911. He probably transferred to RE (Signals) around 1917. He is also entitled to 1914 Star (with clasp), British War Medal and Victory Medal. A very early award of the Army LSGC Medal to the fledgling Royal Corps of Signals. With copies of MIC and census records.
