Estate Of John Challis - Status Quo - a 1979 Washburn Eagle B-Model electric guitar by repute once used and owned by Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt, and later gifted to Only Fools & Horses actor John Challis. The Washburn in ivory colour, with gold plated hardware, twin humbucker pickups, and four knobs. The body and headstock decorated with Mother Of Pearl style purfling, with an ivorite (faux ivory) binding. Indian Rosewood fingerboard with inlaid Mother Of Pearl fret markers. One-piece guitar (the neck and body made from one piece of wood). Housed within its original brown Washburn hard case. Serial number; 792050.

Provenance; believed to have been used and owned by Rick Parfitt of Status Quo fame in the early 1980s, we believe this to be the guitar used on a Top Of The Pops performance in 1980 of the song What You're Proposing where it can be seen being played by Francis Rossi. Parfitt decided the guitar was too heavy and so passed ownership over to a roadie, who later befriended and gifted it to Challis on behalf of the band. Challis' character in Only Fools & Horses - Boycie - was known to be a fan of the band and was heard listening to their music in several episodes of the spin-off series, The Green Green Grass. Photographs of Challis playing the guitar supplied by the family. A note of provenance by Carol Challis is supplied with this lot.

A portion of the proceeds from the Estate Of John Challis will be donated to three charities that he supported: British Hedgehog Preservation Society (1164542), The Cuan Wildlife Rescue (1096812), and Tusk Trust (803118).
