Third Nottinghamshire Local Militia Georgian shoulder / cross belt plate circa 1808-16. Good scarce die-stamped brass oval bearing crowned strap inscribed THIRD NOTTS LOCAL MILITIA with GR cypher to centre; all resting in palm sprays. Reverse retains original fixings comprising single hook and two studs. Slight service wear, generally GC. Formed in September 1808 with headquarters at Retford. Lt.Col.
