8vo+474pp. Original green cloth binding with gilt titles and tooling to the spine and front board, illustrated throughout. Early impression with the drawings of a dung beetle pushing his load with his front legs rather than his back legs on pp. 65, 337, and 457 and Snowball the horse being dragged out of the river on p. 316, which were corrected in later impressions. Illustrated by E. Caldwell.
