OCEAN LINER: First-Class dining chair of the style used on The Ballin Trio of Berengia, Majestic and Leviathan. This chair however was the personal property of Benjamin Steel, Marine Superintendent at Southampton. In this capacity, he witnessed the Titanic lifeboat drill on April 10^th among other matters prior to her departure. This chair was a favourite of Steel's and is sold via direct descent and is thought by the family to have been on board the Mauretania, so may well have been transferred to her at some point.
