Fire Brigade LSGC Medal QE2 (James Spring, Fireman). With original National Fire Service letter, No 29 Area, "K" Sub Area Headquarters, Carlisle. 7th March 1946 F/M Spring 'On the occasion of the fire at the Richmond Memorial Hall on Feb 21st 1946, three women and two children were trapped on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the premises by the main staircase becoming imassable as a result of a fierce outbreak of fire in the entrance lobby. For devotion to duty and your part in the efficient rescue of all five persons by the Wheeled Escape you are hereby Commended by the Sub Area Commander who would also like to tender his personal thanks for a very gallant and praiseworthy effort'.
