A George V silver hip flask, Mappin & Webb, London 1928, of curved rectangular form, bayonet clasp fastening, inscribed 'Parum veneni non nocet' (a little poison won't hurt) and 'Medice, cura te ipsum' (Physician, heal thyself), 16.5cm high, with associated silver coloured detachable stirrup cup (unmarked), weight (excluding cup) 5.81ozt
Body is in good order, no splitting or signs of repair. Some denting throughout, particularly to the corners/shoulders. Heavy scratching and wear throughout. Inscription on both sides are in good order. Cover is slightly stiff, but it opens and closes smoothly/flush. Moderate denting, scratching and wear to the cap. Possibly signs of solder repair to the hinge, and some signs of splitting and thinning (see pictures). Several splits to the cork in the cap. Hallmarks show moderate wear. Cup in good order, no thinning, splitting or repair, some denting throughout, heavy scratching and wear. Cup is stiff to remove.
