A GOOD AND RARE ELIZABETH I OAK OPEN ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1570. The back panel carved with a stylized floral-filled vase, within a leafy-carved arcade, with cable-carved pillars and triform leaf spandrels centred by high-relief pyramidal crossed boss, topped by a matching floral carved flat cresting rail, the back uprights with stiff-leaf carving above the channel-moulded carved and punch-decorated scroll-ended open arms, the boarded seat with applied deep cushion-mouldings with leafy-lunette carved decoration, on rising-baluster front legs, joined by run-moulded stretchers, 91cm high, 64cm wide.
