With 4 copied pages of service record and roll, John Carty was born in Armagh, enlisted 2/4/45 aged 18, served in Persia campaign of 1857, discharged 22/10/62 suffering from chronic bronchitis attributable to service. Roll shows served in Relief, but Relief struck through and replaced by Defence! (See photo) (R)
