£5,500 - £6,500
1949 Moto Guzzi Airone Sport, 250 cc. Registration number 388 YUA (non transferrable). Frame number 15250. Engine number MCH49.
The Airone (Heron) was produced between 1939 and 1957 with a single cylinder four stroke horizontal engine with an external flywheel. Post-war production started with range of updated pre-war designs, it gained a telescopic front fork, larger diameter brakes and an aluminium cylinder barrel and head. Added to the range for 1949, the more powerful Airone Sport offered a 70 mph top speed and the ability to cruise at 60 mph-plus all day, and remained a top-seller well into the 1950's. The frame is interesting in that the rear frame has tail boom friction dampers.
This example was imported into the UK in February 2011 by David Collett of Leatherhead and appears to be in very original condition apart from resprayed petrol and oil tanks. It rides on the correct 19" Borroni's.
Sold with the V5C and import paperwork from DVLA.
