2nd Life Guards Officers state sword of Lt. Col. Sir Morgan Crofton Bt. A scarce Edward VII period example. The single edged 36 1/2 inch blade with etched decoration, The obverse depicting crowned EVIIR Cypher, the reverse with the regimental device and battle honours, the last being Egypt 1882. Etched to the forte, the retailers details of Hawkes & Co. the blade is numbered 6298. The polished steel guard is mounted with entwined gilt metal letters L.G , with 2 to the centre, surmounted by a crown and bearing gilt metal stud decoration. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding and complete with original brown leather lining to the guard. Housed in original steel scabbard with gilt metal mounts, chape and loose rings. The blade remains in good clean condition, etching clear. GC
