Maurice Canning Wilks was a landscape and portrait painter born in Belfast. Towards the later years of his life, Wilks had a studio in Dublin, which inspired him to paint many everyday scenes of Dublin. He exhibited at the RHA and RUA, both organisations he is now a member of and his paintings are held in the Ulster Museum, the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum and many others. He has a very long and prestigious auction history.
