A smokebox numberplate, 34084, from a (Southern Railway) Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 Light Pacific 253 SQUADRON built at Brighton in November 1948, one of the class which retained its original streamlined casing to the end. Allocated new to Stewarts Lane in November 1948, its later sheds were Ramsgate, Dover Marine, Exmouth Junction, Bournemouth and Eastleigh from where it was withdrawn in October 1965 and sold for scrap to Buttigiegs at Newport. Repainted, the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle prominent on the back. (Postage Band: D)
