CORSICA - FRENCH OCCUPATION LETTER WITH RARE "ARMEE DE CORSE" MARK; Very fine 18 Mar. 1767 EL from "Bastia" to Antibes charged "6[sous]" with a mainly very fine rare "ARMEE DE CORSE" marking nicely placed on the front. The French and Genoese had been fighting over Corsica and in 1767 a French Army of Occupation was finally installed on the island. The next year (1768) the island became a French possession.
