World War II Phoney War British Army Lancashire Fusiliers Military Cross Medal Group, Military Cross engraved to reverse 71126 CAPT JFH Hudson 2LF 1940, 1939-45 Star, Africa Star - 1st Army bar, Defence Medal 1939-45, War Medal - oak leaf and Croix De Guerre bronze star. Together with a matching miniature medal group, original MC presentation case and a copy of 'The War Illustrated' April 12th 1940 edition with copy photographs and an article on the action in which acting Captain Hudson won both the Military Cross and Croix De Guerre. Also included is an original photo of the recipient and a folder of printed research information. MC citation as follows:- For conspicuous gallantry, coolness, and initiative while acting as a patrol leader on a night patrol, he saw an enemy patrol of superior strength. Dividing his patrol into two parties he followed the enemy and after a brisk action, rushed the enemy position, killing five and capturing one prisoner. The prisoner was successfully carried to our own lines, a distance of over 1,000 yards despite the appearance of enemy reinforcements. Later Captain Hudson guided another party to the scene of action in which he collected and brought back a light machine gun and other weapons, which had been abandoned by the enemy. Later in the war in April 1943 Captain Hudson was wounded in the fighting in North Africa and was then taken as a prisoner of war by the German Army.
