Provenance: Consigned together with the oak work box with ownership cartouche inscribed Margaret Mary Purcell (1849 - 1884), Pugin's daughter with his third wife Jane Knill (1825 - 1909), also offered in this sale
Unfortunately there is no direct provenance to the family were afraid, it just came in from a local vendor who collects interesting things, with some other things, and nothing is known of its earlier history.
