A RUSSIAN IMPERIAL SILVER DISH ENGRAVED 'BEST WISHES FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR...LOVE OF RUSSIA Weight: 303gms 27cm x 20cm The vendors great uncle Sydney Douglas worked for a Wine Merchants in Kensington. One of his Clients was The Russian Embassy in Kensington Place Gardens. Mr Douglas usually delivered wine and spirts and became very friendly with staff & officials in buying "other" goods as well, which were restricted in Russia, just after the War. One day either the Ambassador or an official became very ill and Mr Douglas rushed them to St Stephens hospital. Afterwards, the Ambassador/official became a family friend.
