The grandfather of this vendor worked for a company based in Bristol who then supplied Wills, L&B, and other manufactures with cigarette card proofs, supplying drawings for cigarette cards and painting them by hand. The collection includes some drawings that were printed onto card ready to print. These date from 1928, 1929 and 1935, including Hignett, L&B and Players. The collection was retrieved by the vendors Grandfather from the Blitz in Bristol in 1941 and the vendor states they could be the only ones in existence and possibly some never made it to print. The photocopies of photographs were taken from the grandfather serving in France and the other earlier, possibly before the war, generally good. (L)
