The British Railways Stranraer to Larne car ferry "Princess Victoria" sank in the Irish Sea after the car deck flooded in heavy seas, with the loss of 134 lives. Eleven mailbags were recovered from the sea and taken directly to the G.P.O in Belfast, one further mailbag recovered in May by the trawler "Dunnet" was handled by the Manchester Post Office. A fine and scarce cover from this wreck. Photo on Page 130.
