An early 20th century Louis Vuitton motoring trunk, No.151898, 'Made specifically for J.A.Lawton & Co by Louis Vuitton, the rectangular black leather studded case with hinged cover set with a central locking plate stamped 'Bte S.G.D.G Patent Louis Vuitton' and two further security catches stamped 'L.V', internal Louis Vuitton label present, the exterior with remnants of travel labels and set to each side with a 'Louis Vuitton Motor Trunks' plaque, 23cm H x 85cm W x 30.5cm D (restored)
Extensive water marks and stains to interior, minor signs of worm in the lid just above the hinges on the back lip, some fraying of the lining fabric in the same place, some staining to the interior fabric behind the studs, general wear to the exterior commensurate with age. This piece appears to have undergone some structural and surface restoration.
