The brothers Bertie and William were residents of 12, Lammascote Rd., Stafford. Bertie enlisted into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in February 1914 he was Killed in Action on the 3rd September 1916 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion. William volunteered into the 7th (Service) Battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment. He landed at Gallipoli on the 26th June 1915 and later served with the 1/4th Northamptonshire Regiment Egypt and was wounded succumbing to his wounds on the 2nd December 1917
